The Stihl MS-181 Petrol Chainsaw has been designed for day-to-day domestic tasks, such as chopping-up firewood, pruning shrubs and limbing / felling small trees.
Its powerful and reliable 31.8cc (2hp) engine makes the most of Stihl’s emission-reducing stratified-charge technology, so it’s not only kinder to the environment, but it also burns significantly less fuel when set against less advanced power-packs in the same class.
A pre-separation air-filtration system ensures that only clean-air enters the carburettor, greatly extending the useful life of the engine; while a carburettor-compensator ensures the optimum fuel-air mixture is consistently maintained under all conditions.
Some chainsaws can be unwieldy and difficult to handle. This is not the case with the Stihl MS-181 – its lightweight design (only 4.3kg), anti-vibration system and ergonomic grip all combine to ensure it’s comfortable, safe and easy to control.
Other high-quality features include ‘Ematic’ automatic chain-oiling, which reduces wear and maximises performance by ensuring that a constant supply of lubricant is maintained; and a side chain-tensioner, which makes it quick and easy to make the necessary adjustments to the chain. Removal of the filler-caps is tool-free.
